Description
East County San Diego : Warner Springs
In search of monsoon weather I headed to East County San Diego on Highway 79. Reaching Warner Springs the road weaves through a vast, grassy plain of undulating hills at the feet of Hot Springs Mountain. Looking right I glimpsed a little building; it appeared to be an old mission given simple adobe construction and off plumb lines. I pulled over for a closer look; stepping out of my car I was immediately hit with the summer heat and humidity that nourish strengthening monsoon clouds. I snapped off a few shots before escaping back to the comfort of air conditioning!
Turns out the little building was the St. Francis of Assisi Chapel. Built in the mid 1800's, it is said to be the Cupeno's Trail of Tears launching point.

This church was such a great find! Terrific capture and processing William. You're out chasing monsoon weather and I've been out photographing scenes in the fog, us photographers could be considered a crazy lot :) fav
